BSB MECCA Form Rating

Superbike & Superbike Form Guide

Who's actually riding the best right now. The Form Rating blends each rider's all-time strength (career ELO) with their current-season results, so it tracks live form without ignoring pedigree. Updated after every round.

Form ratings will appear once the season is under way.

How the Form Rating works

Every rider on BSB Mecca carries a lifetime ELO rating, a chess-style strength score built from every race they've ever contested. Beating a higher-rated rider earns more; losing to a lower-rated one costs more. It's tier-weighted, so dominating a feeder series doesn't inflate it. That number is brilliant for all-time greatness, but on its own it lags a rider's current form: a returning legend can sit too high, a breakout rookie too low.

The Form Rating fixes that by blending the lifetime ELO with how a rider is actually finishing this season:

Form Rating = w × form score  +  (1 − w) × lifetime ELO
  • Pedigree: proven class, a blend of a rider's current and peak ELO (60/40), so a mechanical-wrecked season can't erase a champion's standing while an in-form rider still stays on top. The raw ELO is never changed here; it still powers the all-time Power Rankings.
  • Form score: this season's finishing positions mapped onto the ELO scale, 50% whole-season form plus 50% last-two-rounds form, so recent momentum counts double. Each rider's worst finishes are dropped first, so a mechanical DNF or first-corner crash doesn't bury a fast rider.
  • Weight w: grows 0.15 per round raced, capped at 0.60. Early season (or pre-season) leans on pedigree; as the rounds stack up, current form takes over. It never fully erases ELO, which keeps proven riders honest.
  • Minimum rounds: a rider must have contested at least max(2, 30%) of the rounds held to appear, so a one-off or cross-series entry can't gatecrash a class.

The result: whoever's hot rises to the top, while a rider's track record stops a small sample from telling lies. A means current form has lifted a rider above where their career ELO alone would rank them; a means they're under it right now.
